You are assured of the best quality with each genuine over-glazed polychrome porcelain piece being fired twice – the first where the painted piece is fired at extremely high temperatures; and followed by enamelling and then re-fired at a lower temperature. Adopting the famille rose process, enamelling is applied thickly to achieve stunning and vibrant colours, setting Peranakan ware distinctly apart from other Chinaware in uniqueness and exclusivity.
What is a real Peranakan?
Proud to be Singaporean, the Peranakan heritage and culture are being kept alive today through the efforts of the community who sing songs, write pantuns (poems), even put up plays, and, closest to any Singaporean’s heart – cook and relish the Peranakan food that has become so iconic of this region, with its varied herbs and spices, made from painstaking recipes and taught to generation after generation by word of mouth, each generation adding its own flair and taste into these classic dishes.

Joot's Roots
An unassuming, yet incessant idea started as a tiny seed in our minds one afternoon in 2006. You know the kind – an idea that nags and probes and cajoles and tickles your fancy, so much so that you just have to get up and do something about it. So it started with fun and beautiful straw (or Jute) bags from Madagascar, which, to our delight, tickled the fancy of our clients just as much as they did ours.
Evolving through the desire to provide the perfect gift on any given occasion, the customisation and design process got the better of us and our products took on different personalities and styles, just as varied as our clients and their needs.
